Door Entry

Either audio only, or visual recognition (entry cameras), and remote door release. Our camera systems can include 1 or 2 way audio, so you can see and speak to the person calling on you. Images can be viewed on any PC or Portable PC, tablet PC, Palm top or PDA/organiser, or even on a suitable mobile phone or special remote control. It is possible to place a camera at the doorway, look at the picture when someone calls (either by ringing the bell, or a chime or signal can be generated when someone comes to the door), and if you know the person calling, you are able to release the lock from wherever you are in the house. Cameras can also be viewed on a TV, and door release could equally be a wall button, or a remote control. PCs could be wireless or wired.

Curtains and Blind controls

Can be used for closing curtains or blinds at night, or based on light levels, or on a timer, or by a remote key press, and then for opening again in the morning. We understand Home Care visits could possibly cost the council or a care authority 2 staff x £50 or £60, = £120 per night, potentially just to close the curtains! Depending on the number of curtain and blind controls required, this would be paid for in a matter of days or weeks, at these costs. Obviously, not all visits are just to close the curtains, but it is possible that significant visit/attendance costs could be saved using some of this technology.

Remote Monitoring and viewing technology

Many Home Automation systems (cameras, lighting, alarm, heating, ventilation, access controls, and more) can be accessed and controlled, via the Internet, meaning those responsible for care and well being can check on a person or domestic situation from any PC connected to the Internet, at any time, for free. Security measures and access restrictions, must be given due consideration.

Lighting Controls

Lighting can easily be made “remote control”, by use of radio fobs and remote switches and dimmers. Lights can be turned on, off and dimmed to a relaxing level. By pressing just one button, either on the wall or on a key fob, you can light a pre-determined path to a bedroom or a bathroom, including rooms, hall, stairs and landings, all at once, without groping for switches in the dark, or even having to get to the wall. Householders could turn all lights in the house off at bedtime, or when leaving the house, again with one press of a remote or a single key. Lighting can also be controlled with timers, dawn/dusk detection, or room occupancy (using sensors) to ensure lights are only on when needed. With occupancy and light level detection in place, there is no need to use any manual switching (remote or local), at all. Using lighting control systems can deliver energy savings and extend lamp life.

Multi-Room Audio or Audio/Visual

TV or Radio/CDs, all around the house are easily accessible. TV/DVD/Radio/CD can be made into a multi-room, or single room, built-in audio (and video if required) system, with remote control. Ceiling speakers and hand held remotes or wall keypads can be installed, meaning nothing to fall over or fumble with to turn it on. For blind or partially sighted people, or those with limited mobility, music & radio can be very easily accessible. You can have multiple sources to a system, and have access to all of them, in as many or as few rooms as you want, e.g. Radio (with multiple preset stations if required), CD, Tape, DVD, Satellite TV, Regular TV or Digital TV.

Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Systems

Remote controls for heating or cooling systems, or gas fire, etc., can be integrated and easily controlled.

Security

Integration of alarm systems, cameras with window and door sensors. Standard alarm systems can be linked to cameras and lighting, e.g. alarms can trigger recording on a camera, or a camera can trigger recording, or an alarm system, if it detects any movement within a predefined area. To avoid any worry, like “did I lock the back door?” when leaving or going to bed, all external doors could be locked with one key press, etc., without having to walk round/go to every door or room.

Remote control units

Buggy or Wheelchair mounted remote controls for any of the above would be possible, if a hand held or neck chain remote is not suitable.

Fob Controls, again for any of the above. We have some ideas around a Panic Button style remote, as the existing “Pendant Alarm” system, which could also feature a second set of buttons to control lights, and a third to close or open curtains.

Ideas and suggestions

Please let us know if any of the above has triggered any ideas of where these sorts of technology may be of use, in the applications and situations you know of. We are very keen to develop any ideas that individuals, or organisations, may have on ways to make things easier for people. Either call 0871 711 0434 or use our feedback form to request a call back, and/or put forward ideas or requirements.

Azantian provide a very interactive and user-driven attitude to selling and installing our products and systems, and are more than happy to look at possible applications, and discuss and help develop ideas. We provide a tailored service to design, supply, project manage and install any home automation solution.

We can provide any, or all, of these services, to the public, to councils and organisations, and to commercial clients, and can provide quotations for specific solutions, with no obligation.
